Like in every World Masterpiece Theater series, animals play a major part here, too. In fact, 'A Little Princess Sara' features more named animals than in any other WMT series. The reason for this is that most of them already exist in the original novel. Some had no name, though.

Sara's own carriage would be pretty useless without him. He is of good nature and lived a happy life with Peter attending to him ... until he had to leave one day. |
Bonaparte
Sara's parrot doesn't exist in the book. He can speak but it is only one word: "Sara". Bonaparte, too, had to leave Sara together with Jump. |
Boris
Yes, even this big noble dog made it from the original novel into the anime. In the book he was a present but here he distracts poor Mr. Carrisford from his sorrows. |
